Hemper Kraken XL Bong

The Hemper Kraken XL Bong wraps a kraken around the body of the piece — tentacles worked into the glass, curling up and around the chamber toward the neck. It was Hemper's May 2024 theme and it's one of the most detailed shapes in their XL range: there's a lot of glasswork on the outside of what is, underneath, a solid, well-proportioned pipe.

May 2024 was a single limited batch. Hemper don't reissue themes, so the count of these in existence is fixed.

How it performs

The tentacles add mass low on the body, which actually helps stability. Standard bowl and downstem. The chamber is a conventional shape beneath the sculpture, so the draw is smooth and there's nothing internal to trap residue.

Hemper's XL pieces are a significant step up from the regular releases — taller, wider in the chamber and noticeably heavier. This is a centrepiece rather than a bedside piece.

If you want to check the provenance, the SKU does it for you — JWP0524 encodes May 2024, the month the design was issued. That dating is the reason Hemper glass holds a following: each piece belongs to one month and one batch.

Looking after it
